MIC, NEC Join Hands for WiMAX Development
March 16, 2007
On March 13, Taiwan-based III (Institute for Information Industry) and Japanese NEC have inked a cooperation agreement, whereby both parties vow to develop state-of-arts technologies for WiMAX. Under the tie-up, III will work to forge partnerships between NIC and Taiwanese vendors, with attempts to help them capture more WiMAX base station orders from NEC, while NEC will set up a WiMAX R&D center in Taiwan. Initially, NEC will interact with Taiwanese Tatung, MiTAC, Alpha Network, and Accton for equipment procurement.
